Lavender Hearts/Sunshine Committee
The Lavender Hearts Committee was formed as an outreach arm of the Lavender Friends Club in SCLH. All projects or helping activities are done in the name of Lavender Friends. We have employed (a. progressive dinners, (b. parking lot sales, (c. raffles at potlucks, etc. to fund our projects. All this takes planning and time to organize and complete.
If you are interested in joining this rewarding group email Marie@lavenderfriends.com for more information.
Our favorite charity is Stand Up Placer. In the past year, Stand Up Placer provided more than 100,000 services through their emergency, intervention, education and advocacy programs. In addition, they are now one of the few shelters in the United States that is pet-friendly. They strive to ensure that all survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking in Placer Country receive the assistance and support they seek as they work toward healing and self-sufficiency. Their website is StandUpPlacer.org.
We plan on buying meals for the safe homes at least once during the holiday season. We will be supporting the Sacramento Woman's Chorus in their fundraising concert in October. Their website is sacrametowomanschorus.com.
Last month we created eight themed-baskets for raffle by the Sacramento Women's Chorus. The raffle baskets raised funds for the organization's operational expenses. The cost of the chorus performances often exceed the revenues as the chorus makes ticket prices affordable to the general public, and sometimes donates the entire ticket sale proceeds to local charities.
